On the 6-7th of November 2013 Kampinos National Park (KNP) was visited by representatives of the European Commission – Maja Mikosińska (EC technical officer) and Anna McClintock (EC financial officer). They were accompanied by representatives of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress in the implementation of the LIFE + project No LIFE10 NAT/PL/655 entitled "Protection of natural resourses of Kampinos Forest – Natura 2000 Site, through the renaturalization of bought-up land”.

On the first day of the visit the park staff and project coordinators presented the objectives of the project and the functioning of KNP. During the second day our guests from Brussels, received some in the field information on the "ActiveKPN" project.  They were shown some of the land purchased for the project, and the first renaturalization activities carried out on theses plots.

The discussions which took place during the visit helped to explain some of the problematic issues which arose with the implementation of specific actions. The "ActiveKPN" project is co-funded by the LIFE+ Programme of the European Commission (50%), the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (45%), and from KNP’s own funds. It focuses on the purchasing of private land located within KNP and restoring it to natural conditions.
