At the end of the year 2012 the Mid-Term Report was submitted to the European Commission to assess. The Mid-Term Report shows the degree of fulfillment of the tasks of the project, which were completed since the 31st of March 2012 (when the Inception Report was made) until December 31st 2012, and the physical and financial progress of the whole project. This report is a document mandatory for all LIFE+ projects.
Below we provide the summary of the activities undertaken by the project during the reporting period for the Mid-Term Report.
Until the 31st of December 2012, 87.2319 hectares of land have been purchased. Among the purchased property there are 12 built up households. These properties were acquired for the equivalent of 2 473 738.65 €.
Renaturization activities on the purchased land will be launched in 2013 after receiving the opinions of nature experts and consultations with KNP’s of Science and Nature Monitoring Department. Renaturization activities planned for each plot must be accepted by the Scientific Council of Kampinos National Park.
In the second quarter of 2012 three expert biologists were selected: a botanist, an ornithologist and an entomologist who conducted the 2012 natural expertise on an area which represents approximately one quarter of the whole area planned to undergo expertise throughout the project.
Most of the equipment planned as necessary to perform monitoring and renaturization activities was purchased.
Two project coordinators, technical and financial, were hired. They started work in the project from the 1st of June 2012
Until now 2 521 852.91€ were spent to cover the needs of the project, representing 45.3% of the planned expenditure.
